Glasgow Hate Crime Awareness Week 7 – 13 October 2019

Glasgow Hate Crime Awareness Week takes place between 7 – 13 October this year. The campaign aims to bring agencies, communities, third sector and local organisations to work together to

  • Encourage hate crime reporting
  • Raise awareness of the nature of hate crime and how to respond to it
  • Challenge attitudes and values that underpin offences motivated by prejudice
  • Improve service responses to hate crime
  • Consider the positive potential of bystanders

This year there is a range of activity taking place including a schools art competition, Recognising and Reporting Hate Crime training for City Council staff, a Third Party Reporting Network Seminar, a National Conference in the City Chambers on 15 Oct, organised by BEMIS, and a social media campaign, all backed with advertising on Glasgow underground, Radio Clyde, Radio Awaz and Sunny Govan Radio.  If you are a regular listener, keep an ear out for the ads, and tell us what you think.

There is a Glasgow HCAW Toolkit to support participation in the campaign. Don’t forget to follow the City Council’s social media campaign and to promote HCAW it on your own social media using #HateCrime #WeStandTogether #NHCAW #NoPlaceForHate
